The Provincial Government is making it easier for commuters along the Stouffville GO line to take public transit.
Construction is underway to extend the train platforms at the Stouffville and Mount Joy stations to accommodate three new 12-car trains recently added along the line. The new trains run during the morning and afternoon rush hour periods, providing riders with 320 more seats per train and a more comfortable trip.
Renovation work is also underway at the Unionville station to:
– build new, accessible public washrooms
– relocate the ticket booth to improve customer traffic flow
– expand the waiting area
– GO Transit carries approximately 62 million passengers per year.
– Since 2003, the McGuinty government increased GO’s rail service by nearly 90 kilometres, added nine new GO stations and 23,000 parking spots across the GTA.
