MPP Welcomes ‘Pathways for Children, Youth and Families’ to Thornhill
(Thornhill) – Peter Shurman, MPP for Thornhill,this week welcomed Pathways for Children, Youth and Families of York Region to Thornhill. Joined by staff and volunteers at the Dufferin Clark Community Centre, Shurman participated in the grand opening of the Pathways’ Home Base Vaughan Youth Drop-In Centre, and presented the organization with a $175,000 Ontario Trillium Grant.
“I am pleased to welcome Pathways for Children, Youth and Families to Thornhill and participate in today’s grand opening.” Shurman said. “Thornhill is one of the most diverse, exciting and fastest growing communities in Ontario. Pathways will provide a much needed service for our community, a place that youth can rely on for assistance and seek help when needed.”
The $175,000 Ontario Trillium Grant presented to Pathways for Youth and Families of York Region by Peter Shurman will be used to run the Home Base Vaughan Youth Drop-In Centre, which will provide a safe place and counseling for youth in the Thornhill and Vaughan communities. Home Base Vaughan Drop-In Centre will operate out of the Dufferin Clark Community Centre, at 1441 Clark Avenue West and be open Monday to Friday from 4pm-8pm.
“I would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for providing this grant to Pathways to create Home Base Vaughan and provide much needed services for youth in Thornhill,” Shurman said. “Pathways for Children Youth and Families has provided support services for York Region families & youth for over 20 years and is a welcome addition to the Thornhill Community.”
