Airbus to cut 1100 jobs

Airbus says it wants to cut more than 1100 jobs as part of its efforts to compete with US rival Boeing and others.

Parent company Airbus Group is facing months of negotiations with unions after presenting a reorganization plan to the works council on Tuesday in France.

Airbus – which has about 136,000 employees worldwide, hopes to make the cuts through voluntary departures.
