Canada’s heritage minister has put the kibosh on having an NHL game on Parliament Hill for the country’s 150th birthday.
The NHL and the Ottawa Senators hockey club had been pushing for the game, which would have also marked the 100th anniversary of the league and 25th birthday of the team.
Heritage Minister Melanie Joly’s press secretary says a full-stadium NHL game on the Hill was not deemed feasible due to security and public access issues.
Other options are being considered for the 150th birthday celebrations next year.
